Huurindex applies the published rules (see the rules and their sources) and gives no legal advice. The result is a maximum; exceptions in your lease, student rooms, commercial leases and social housing are not covered. In doubt: your region's housing service, or the justice of the peace.

How to check an indexation
Even without this tool: six questions every indexation letter should answer.
Is it the anniversary?
The rent may rise once a year, at the earliest on the anniversary of the day the lease took effect.
Which base rent?
The rent in the lease without costs and charges, not last year's rent. Every year the sum starts from the same base rent (except after a revision, and in Wallonia after 2022–2023 with PEB D to G).
Which new index?
The health index of the month before the anniversary. Look it up in the index figures and check that the month and the base match.
Which starting index?
Flanders, lease from 2019: the month before the start. Brussels, Wallonia and older Flemish leases: the month before signing. Both figures in the same base.
Which label?
With an older lease and an EPC D to F (Flanders), EPB E to G (Brussels) or PEB D to G (Wallonia), or without a certificate, your region's corrections apply.
How far back?
At most three months before the month of the written request. Anything earlier is no longer owed.
