Good to know
Accessibility
We want everyone to be able to use Huurindex: with a mouse, a keyboard or a screen reader, on a large or small screen. Here's what we do for that.
Our standard
We build to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, level AA, the standard behind the European Accessibility Act (EN 301 549). We test with the keyboard, at 320 pixels wide, at 200 % zoom and with automated checks.
What we do
Every page has a clear structure with headings, a link to skip straight to the content and a visible focus. Every field has a label and an explanation. The calculation tape is plain text in a list, so a screen reader reads the sum line by line, and the result is announced as soon as it changes. Colours have enough contrast in the light and the dark display.
Reading comfort
With the button with the figure at the top of every page you choose larger text, more space between lines and letters, a legible font, more contrast, underlined links, less motion or a reading ruler. Your choice is kept on your device.
What isn't perfect yet
The table of index figures is wide: on a narrow screen you scroll it sideways. The date fields use your browser's calendar, which looks different in each browser. If something doesn't work for you, let us know.
